Label version 1 has been seen with both the factory sleeve and the Dutch picture sleeve.

I’ve been wondering if this factory sleeve came with the single. So I asked my fellow Dutch collectors about this, and here is what Ton van Mierle wrote me:

“The Verve factory sleeve that you have on your site is in my opinion older than 1966 because some ad’s on the sleeve are from album’s of the fifties (when you get older you listen to good music like jazz)

The only record with Count Basie,Ella Fitzgerald & Joe Williams is “one O’Clock Jump” from 1957 Verve

The Papa Bue’s Viking jazz band.
two songs from “The Papa Bue’s Viking jazz band” are from the 1959 album “George Lewis and The Papa Bue’s Viking jazz band” Verve

“Ton is of course right when he talks about the publishing dates of the releases mentioned at the sleeve. However, this must not be contradictory.

There are several possibilities for this fact.

1. Verve did not publish very much singles in the NL. It’s possible that they produced a large number of company sleeves and used them even years later.

2. Verve mentioned possibly re-releases.

The second point seems not to be very well funded (but can be researched by a Dutch collector). I assume that the first point is the most probable reason. Or even a third one that I could not (yet) imagine…

“Here is just some more info about the factory sleeve of the Dutch “Mothers of Invention” Single, a friend of mine has send me picture of a Dutch 1960 “Ella Fitzgerald” single, the factory sleeve is the same as the one on your site, but i have my doubt that “Verve” used the same sleeve for more than six years.
